: Week Nine: Thursday
Today while I was riding, my necklace fell off I think. It's somewhere in the woods but I was on a long hack and I probably wouldn't be able to find it even if I looked. But if anyone is wandering in the forest and finds a silver necklace with a horseshoe charm on it, could you tell me? I'd rather like to have it back sometime, but if I don't find it I guess that's all right, too. I should ask some birds or something. They like shiny things and one of them might have taken it for their nest. Yes, I think I'll do that. Of course then they get so stingy with their shiny things that I'd have to trade them something to get it back. I can't think of anything else shiny that they'd like to have. I'll have to consider it for a bit, I suppose. 2nd March 2008
: Week five: Monday
It's the end of April already. I can't believe it. Spring is going by so quickly! Everything is so lovely and green that I can hardly bear to stay inside until classes are over. Then it's straight off to the stables for work (though one can hardly call spending time with such wonderful creatures working, can they?) and then back to explore with Rhys for a bit. He's gotten more of an attitude since we got here, the little scamp. Likes to hide under the bed and grumble about how he likes it better there. It's his den or something. He always comes out if I threaten to leave him inside, though! I met someone the other day, thought I was right mad. I was just outdoors trying to get Rhys back in, and he was just doing that barking thing he likes to do when he's cross with me because he wasn't finished chasing grasshoppers. And I told him he could chase grasshoppers tomorrow and then I was listenening to him, since it's rather rude to ignore his opinions and all. Then I answered back and he finally came in, only when I turned around there was this man standing there looking at me like I'd lost my bleeding mind. Which made me laugh, of course, because he just didn't know! I think I frightened him, though, because he just sort of walked off briskly. If you're reading this, I'm not mad! I promise! 4th February 2008
: Week 3: Monday Morning
I got thrown yesterday. It was the first time in a long time, but I obviously needed the reminder. When you're riding a horse that has only been ridden once before, you can't let your mind wander to your next move. You have to think about what you're doing right then. So I would up in the dirt and the horse got spooked. Took me the rest of the session to calm him down enough for us to finish out on a good note. He's still so green that I can't let him have a bad experience like that and end on it. It wouldn't be fair. On another note, I kind of... lost my notes from friday between here and the stables. I think they must have blown out of my bag. So could I copy anyone's Magical Creatures and Earth Magic notes, please? I can't afford to get behind, I'm a bad enough test-taker without not being able to study! And does anyone know of a like, outdoors study group or something because I have problems with concentratng when I'm surrounded by walls and well, walls. And if I was outside I think I could learn a lot better but sometimes I need a little bit of extra help with the whole study habits thing. And if there's not an outside study group, would anyone want to put one together? If the weather's too bad we could study in one of the indoor gardens if we had to or something, it would be better than a common room or a dorm room. Just being stuck in stuffy dorms and classrooms all the time kind of drives me a little batty and I'd like to try something new but I know I'll never get anything done if I do it alone because I don't have that kind of wllpower. I'd start exploring or something instead and then I'd fail and that would be bad so... Right. Study group, outside. Yes/No/Maybe? Notes for Earth Magic and Magical Creatures Yes/No PLEASE? THANKS! : Week Two: Monday
I found a riding stable on the island! Of course this is useless information to the majority of you, but it means the world to me. I had to leave my horses behind in Wales when I came here, and while wandering today I was drawn by the sound of hoofbeats. There were riders hacking along a trail through the woods, miles away, and I followed the trails to this lovely little farm. I found the owner, and it turns out they just lost their trainer. I told him if he'd just let me ride and trust in my methods long enough for him to see results, that he didn't have to pay me until he decided whether or not I'm worth keeping around. So now he's assigned me to two young horses who haven't yet been ridden and three older but still very green horses his clients have found troublesome. I start after class tomorrow, and I can't wait. Maybe I'll feel more at home now that I've got horses. 5th January 2008
: Week One: Thursday
I'd almost forgotten about this thing, being so busy with school and all! I do love all of my classes, especially the earth magic one. There's so much I didn't know about something so much a part of who I am; it's rather amazing. At any rate, I think I need to get out and have some fun on the island, as I haven't left the school since I arrived. Tragedy, I know! Anyone have any good ideas for an outing? Oh, and Charlie. I adore Cassius. He's simply the most talkative dog I've ever met. He has a bit of a dirty mouth sometimes though! I have to scold him for it. Is he treating your pillows better or is everything just in one ear and out the other with him? He does stick to my heel now, though, if I remind him of it occasionally. |
